Mets 4, Cards 1

Great to see that El Duque pitched like the El Duque of old (1 R, 5 H, 2 BB)…but the real challenge is tomorrow (for both teams).  It’s John Maine, in his first full season in the Majors, versus the closer turned starter Braden Looper as the Mets look for the sweep tomorrow.  After that it’s an off day of Thursday before the Mets open up a three-game series against the Braves, with the shaky Oliver Perez getting the call on Friday.
So the good news is that Glavine and El Duque look good so far, but it is obviously a long season…now time to see if John Maine can grow into a viable starter and if Oliver Perez can get back to his 2004 form.
